近年、医療技術の高度化や医薬品開発の国際化が急速に進む一方で、開発コストの上昇、研究開発の生産性の低下などに伴い、医薬品開発のプロセス・戦略は大きく変化しています。このような状況の中、独創的な企画力を持ち、新薬開発の国際的な最前線で活躍できる人材の養成が急務とされているところです。

 

　医薬開発学研究室では、薬学・医学・統計学などの幅広い自然科学をベースに、社会科学的な側面も加味した知識と経験を応用し、臨床試験のデザインと評価、医薬品市販後の安全対策を含む医薬品の開発戦略をメインテーマとした研究を行っています。

 

　これらを通して、医薬品開発に必要な包括的な知識を習得しつつ、現行の医薬品開発の問題点を的確に分析・評価し、それらを解決するための科学的かつ柔軟な戦略を企画立案できる人材を養成することを目的としています。

Drug development process and strategy have been changing drastically with the increasing development cost and the declining productivity in R&D as well as with the rapid advance in medical technology and the internationalization of drug development. In these situations, it is imperative to foster human resources who have a creative planning ability and play an active role in the front line of international new drug development.

 

Our laboratory of Pharmaceutical Medicine has been conducting research on drug development strategy including clinical trial design and its evaluation, and post-marketing safety measures based on a broad range of natural science such as pharmaceutical sciences, medicine and biostatistics and also by applying knowledge and experience from the viewpoint of social science.

 

Through these activities, we are aiming at training personnel to have knowledge and skill of analyzing issues to be tackled in the current drug development, and of proposing scientific and adaptable plans to address them.
